Teck Resources Electrification Market Study & Electrification Analysis Tool

Teck is one of Canada's leading mining companies with operations in Canada globally.

In collaboration with the Teck innovation team and funded by BC Hydro, we developed a fleet electrification market study for one of their operations. This study included building an analysis tool that is flexible and versatile in predicting various outputs (GHGs, cost, grid side demand increase, and others) based on a customizable set of inputs and assumptions. We also developed a roadmap for Teck to allocate capital expenditures to electrify the mine and to expand the same methodology to other operations in order to meet their 2050 net-zero target. As part of the deliverable, we recommended additional components to consider in an electrification strategy, including change management, charging strategy, and risk management.
